The steel segment of Empiric Trading covers products such as hot rolled steel sheets, cold rolled steel sheets, zinc plated steel sheets, and medium and heavy steel plates.
The Company has built long term, close partnerships with major steel producers. The customers are mainly household appliances, automobiles, steel structures and pipe welding manufacturers. By providing quality services including resources allocation, processing and delivery, and warehousing and logistics.
Carbon Steel
Carbon steel, on the other hand, has far lower chromium levels, and is instead a carbon-iron alloy with only a few other materials, if any, as part of its makeup. As a result, it can be referred to as ‘low-alloy’ steel. Both stainless steel and carbon steel feature this basic composition, but carbon steel can be defined by its carbon content. This is normally around 2-2.5%, however this often varies. Though susceptible to rust unlike stainless steel, carbon steel is often cheaper and has its own varying mechanical properties based on carbon content.
Low-carbon steels are weaker and softer, but can be machined and welded easily; while high-carbon steel is stronger, but significantly harder to process.
Coated Steel
GALVANIZED (GALV) is hot or cold rolled carbon steel that is coated with zinc by the hot-dip process. The zinc coating prevents corrosive substances from reaching the underlying metal. ELECTRO GALVANIZED (EG) is hot or cold carbon steel that is coated with zinc by the electrolytic deposition process. The zinc reacts with oxygen when exposed to the atmosphere, forming a zinc oxide that further reacts with carbon dioxide to form zinc carbonate. It stops further corrosion in many circumstances, protecting steel from the elements.
